A Short Post

Well I have had a lovely weekend at Grafton, the Jacaranda Festival was well worth seeing. It actually poured rain the whole weekend, this did not detract from the good time we had. We were aware that the rain was much needed;

We were able to find a good position under an awning to watch the parade itself, which was great, many floats with many diverse themes, there was even a Wildlife Warrior Float with local schoolchildren aboard. There were vintage and veteran cars, I have always been keen about these.

We had a river cruise on the Clarence which was very enjoyable as well as some day trips to surrounding towns of interest. In actual fact we followed the Clarence (by bus) through these towns to the mouth of the river at Yamba.

Very lovely scenery I did not sleep as others on the bus chose to, I may have missed out on something.

I will post some pictures and post more, after I have returned from my two weeks holiday proper. Sad to say my new camera which I bought last year for my Melbourne trip chose for the second time to jam with the film in it. Twice I have taken some great pictures and twice this has happened. I will look at buying a digital camera as soon as I can. I do have some postcards that I can post, so all was not lost. I will return the camera to Kodak.

I have time, only for a short post, I have been working everyday since I arrived home on Monday evening, time has been very limited indeed.

Father Patrick

Muldoon lived alone in the Irish countryside with only a pet dog for company.

One Day the dog dies and Muldoon went to the parish priest and asked “ Father me dog is dead. Could you be saying a mass for the poor creature?”

Father Patrick replied, “ I’m afraid not; we cannot have services for an animal in the church. But there are some Methodists down the lane and there’s no tellin’ what they believe. Maybe they’ll do something for the creature.”

Muldoon said, “I’ll be going right away Father. Do ya’ think $5,000 is enough to donate to them for the service.”

Father Patrick exclaimed, “Sweet Mary Mother of Jesus! Why didn’t ya tell me the dog was Catholic”.

"The Pharmacist"

A girl asks her boy friend to come over Friday night and have
dinner with her parents. Since this is such a big event, the
girl announces to her boyfriend that after dinner, she would
like to go out and make love for the first time.

Well, the boy is ecstatic, but he has never had sex before, so
he takes a trip to the pharmacist to get some condoms. The
pharmacist helps the boy for about an hour. He tells the boy
everything there is to know about condoms and sex.

At the register, the pharmacist asks the boy how many condoms
he'd like to buy, a 3-pack, 10-pack, or family pack. The boy
insists on the family pack because he thinks he will be rather
busy, it being his first time and all.

That night, the boy shows up at the girl's parent’s house and
meets his girlfriend at the door. "Oh, I'm so excited for you to
meet my parents, come on in!"

The boy goes inside and is taken to the dinner table where the
girl's parents are seated. The boy quickly offers to say grace
and bows his head.

A minute passes, and the boy is still deep in prayer, with his
head down.

10 minutes pass, and still no movement from the boy.

Finally, after 20 minutes with his head down, the girlfriend
leans over and whispers to the boyfriend, "I had no idea you
were this religious."

The boy turns, and whispers back, "I had no idea your father was
a pharmacist."

Hi Margaret, you got me with the song! Rose has been an all-time favourite, as is Bette Midler, The Devine Miss M. indeed!

I have photos of the vintage & veteran car runs in the hills around Adelaide in the Bay to Birdwood car meeting - I must dig them out, they are beautiful, always a fan.

Thanks for the jokes, lots of laughs around the blogs these days, very good...

Never can tell what we Methodists might do, can you. That was so funny.

Love The Rose you have playing in the background. One of the best songs in recent memory.

I love my digital camera and it wasn't expensive. I didn't need all the bells and whistles, just something I was bright enough to operate.

Gidday Margaret, I was in Grafton a few years ago also when the jacaranda were out and took a few photos. It's a great looking colourful tree but leaves a huge big purple mess. I had two tress in my previous address and boy what a great colour on the ground after the flowers had dropped.
