Newcastle

Hello everyone, as you can see I am back from My holidays, I am trying to catch up with everyone. It will take me a little while as I started back to work this morning, I did NOT want to do that, after arrivingat work I was back into the swing in no time. The photo below is taken on the breakwater at Newcastle.
There are several of these decorated huge cement structures along the way. They are very interesting to view. All are relevant to the busy marine life of the area.

A picture of the lighthouse frome the outer reach of the breakwater, sadly it is under maintainance so was closed on the day and has been for some time prior according to Angela who lives at Newcastle. Angela Brett and family live in Newcastle at the present moment due to Brett's work committments.

Angela Brett and boys live at the end of a street that opens out onto the beach, we all walked for long walks everyday which was very enjoyable. We did not go too far on the thursday as it was blowing a gale and there had been snow would you believe on Barrington Tops (just out of Newcastle) We were unable to go up and visit as the roads were cut because of the danger of the out of season snow

Above is a swimming pool that is built into the sea, the changing sheds and cafe are under restoration,it will be really something once they have finshed the work. People actually swim in the pool as others surf the breakers on the outside.

A view of the lighthouse from the other side of the swimming pool, I am afraid I will have to do another post to show some more of the beautiful beaches and a very interesting rock pool of some historical interest.
We also went to some of the Hunter Valley wineries and bought a bottle or two to share in the evenings.

Sea Fever

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face and a grey dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide,
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

John Masefield 1879

"THE DIFERENCE BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN"

If Laurie, Linda, Elizabeth and Barbara go out for lunch, they will call each other Laurie, Linda, Elizabeth and Barbara.

If Mark, Chris, Eric and Tom go out, they will affectionately refer to each other as Fat Boy, Godzilla, Peanut-Head and Scrappy.

**********************

EATING OUT

When the bill arrives, Mark, Chris, Eric and Tom will each throw in $10, even though it's only for $32.50. None of them will have anything smaller and none will actually admit they want change back.

When the girls get their bill, out come the pocket calculators.

*********************

MONEY

A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs.

A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't need but it's on sale.

********************

BATHROOMS

A man has six items in his bathroom: a toothbrush, shaving cream, razor, a bar of soap, and a towel from the Marriott.

The average number of items in the typical woman's bathroom is 337. A man would not be able to identify most of these items.

******************

ARGUMENTS

A woman has the last word in any argument. Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.

********************

CATS

Women love cats.

Men say they love cats, but when women aren't looking, men throw things at cats.

**********************

FUTURE

A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband.

A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.

**********************

SUCCESS

A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend.

A successful woman is one who can find such a man.

********************

MARRIAGE

A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't.

A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change... but she does.

**********************

DRESSING UP

A woman will dress up to go shopping, water the plants, empty the garbage, answer the phone, read a book, and get the mail.

A man may put on shoes for weddings and funerals.

*********************

NATURAL

Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed.

Women somehow deteriorate during the night.

**********************

OFFSPRING

Ah, children. A woman knows all about her children. She knows about dentist appointments and romances, best friends, favorite foods, secret fears and hopes and dreams.

A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.

***********************

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Any married man should forget his mistakes. There's no use in two people remembering the same thing.

Welcome back, Margaret...I bet you wish you were still holidaying!

That's some major breakwater! Great pics...thanks for sharing.

Men and women different....naaaa...what ever gave you that idea? ;)

It was chilly up here around the same time you said it was snowing down near where you were. It even snowed, albeit lightly in the Stanthorpe area that particular Thursday. By today and yesterday's temps...it looks like summer is here! I hate the heat...I wish it would pour and pour with rain!

Love your Newcastle photos. I've never been there ... by-passed it a few times, but never dropped in. Looks like an interesting place, time for a visit, perhaps !!
Have a great week.

Hi Margaret, thanks for posting the pics - one of the things I love about blogging, we get to see so many different places, that we might not get to see otherwise.

VERY funny he/she comparisons too, how can they be so funny - and so TRUE ?

welcome home...
:-)
